It presents destination information and personalized preparation guidance for travelers visiting Mexico. The public score summarizes destination risk. It is not government certification, an individual prediction or a claim that each page has received a recent human review. Our reports are informational and use the destination information available to the report. Understanding the source, geography and reporting period is as important as the score. ### Crime statistics, surveys and advisories serve different purposes Police-reported crime describes recorded incidents in a defined area and period. It does not capture all crime or predict whether an individual traveler will be harmed. Advisories provide a separate assessment with their own geographic scope and restrictions. SESNSP publishes recorded crime data. INEGI victimization surveys add context about reporting and experiences not fully represented in official crime records. No. Counts depend on population, reporting, jurisdiction and the period covered. Missing or unreported incidents may not appear, and city totals do not describe every neighborhood. #### How current are the sources? Each publisher sets its own release schedule. Publication dates, reporting periods and the date information enters a report can differ. SafeTravel does not promise live coverage or a fixed review interval for every page. #### Is SafeTravel an official government advisory? No. SafeTravel is an independent planning resource. Follow the relevant government advisory and local emergency instructions; a SafeTravel rating does not override them.
